Great practice gives rise to a great spirit, and a great spirit in turn propels great undertakings. Recently, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized at the symposium on advancing the all-round revitalization of Northeast China in the new era that we must vigorously carry forward the Spirit of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, the Daqing Spirit (the “Iron Man” Spirit), and the Beidahuang Spirit, so as to guide Party members and cadres in cultivating a correct outlook on political achievements and to inspire their enthusiasm for getting things done and starting businesses. He also stressed the need to firmly grasp the important mission of Northeast China in safeguarding the nation’s “five major securities.” In this new era and on this new journey, to effectively safeguard national security, we must inherit the red gene and carry forward the red lineage, drawing from the Spirit of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army, the Daqing Spirit (the “Iron Man” Spirit), and the Beidahuang Spirit the vigorous momentum needed to forge ahead and accomplish great things.

“Spirit serves as a砥砺, and through the ages we seek it here.” Practice has proven that the Chinese people’s enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity have been further stimulated; their ambition, fortitude, and confidence have reached unprecedented heights; and the Party’s resolve, the military’s spirit, and the people’s hearts are all buoyed and invigorated—all of which are inseparable from the spiritual strength of self-confidence and self-reliance. The Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army Spirit, the Daqing Spirit (the “Iron Man” Spirit), and the Beidahuang Spirit are important components of the Communist Party of China’s spiritual lineage, embodying the “spiritual code” that has enabled the Party to lead the people in repeatedly creating miracles. The heroic ethos, vigorous fighting spirit, and spirit of self-improvement they embody are a powerful manifestation of the Chinese national spirit. On the road ahead, we must consciously draw on these great spirits to temper our character and forge a resolute drive to strive and accomplish.
